We are very proud of our students and the positive leadership that was spread throughout DKJA this week! Our students in K-12 spent time learning about the extraordinary life and message of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Our teachers built lessons around the main ideas of freedom and civil rights. Students were exposed to the lessons of Dr. King in both their General and Judaic Studies classes. Specifically, our High School students celebrated the life and achievements of Dr. King as part of the Anti-Defamation League's (ADL) goal to spread the concept "No Place for Hate" throughout our school.
Continuing the theme of leadership, The Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County held its Annual Jewish CommUNITY in Action Day which DKJA was thankful to take part in. People of all ages had the opportunity to volunteer and get involved with various charity programs throughout the Greater Boca/Delray community. Our First-Grade Play Date is a program held by a few parents to gather the first-grade together during the semester. This week, our first-graders dedicated their playdate time to participate in a mitzvah project at the Jacobson Food Family Pantry for CommUNITY in Action Day. We are grateful to our hosts Debby Laznik and Karry Stackhouse for making it such a wonderful mitzvah event. In addition, DKJA provided an opportunity for the greater community to participate in Jewish CommUNITY in Action Day in our Garden, Shomrei HaAdamah (Guardians of the Earth). The Federation Men's Group came out to the DKJA Garden and donated their time building a potting bench, trellis, and transplanting. This year, Jewish CommUNITY in Action Day was held in loving memory of z"l Dr. Yoram Dahav, who inspired generations of students to pursue Tikkun Olam throughout their lives within DKJA and beyond.
