2/12/2021 Head of School Message

Dear DKJA Community,

It has been an exciting time at DKJA as we continue to host our grandparents and special friends for daily classes in honor of Grandparents and Special Friends Month. It has been a pleasure to hear feedback from our guests about how much they are enjoying visiting with our students and participating in engaging sessions. Our DKJA Eagles have come together to create a beautiful month-long event for our special guests. For this, I am incredibly proud.

I wanted to take this opportunity to provide an update on our search for the next principal of the Claire and Emanuel G. Rosenblatt High School at DKJA. As of this week, we have received 28 resumes and have conducted initial interviews with 12 outstanding candidates. As we move into the next phase of the hiring process, we will be expanding our search committee and completing additional extensive interviews with select candidates. Once we have selected our top applicants, we will invite them to meet with select faculty, parents, and students. I am encouraged and delighted by the experience, talent, and passion we have seen from our candidates so far, and I know that the Claire and Emanuel G. Rosenblatt High School at DKJA has a bright future ahead. I will continue to keep our DKJA community updated on our hiring process in the weeks and months to come.

Looking ahead, we plan on welcoming all of our students, employees, and administration back on campus at the start of the 2021-2022 school year. I would like to make it abundantly clear that the health and safety of our entire DKJA community continues to be of paramount importance to us. Please know that it is still our intention to uphold all COVID-19 protocols recommended by the CDC. For this reason, our administration plans to expand our safety protocols currently in place to allow for our entire student, staff, and faculty population to be back on campus in the fall. Our COVID-19 Task Force, in conjunction with our administration and Medical Advisory Committee, will continue to assess the situation throughout the summer and will make a decision regarding the continuation of the remote learning option for our students. Our students have continued to thrive academically, socially, spiritually, and emotionally throughout the pandemic, and I look forward to their continued success throughout the rest of this school year and into next year.

Wishing our DKJA community a relaxing and enjoyable long weekend.

Shabbat Shalom,
Helena Levine
