Donna Klein Jewish Academy honored a longtime administrator at its annual meeting last month in Zinman Hall. Sharon Kamber spent nearly three decades at DKJA in various roles, first as a substitute teacher and most recently as Senior Director of Community Engagement. Kamber will officially retire at the end of the month and has received many accolades along the way.

The 28-year DKJA veteran received numerous gifts and tributes during the evening, including a sign which will be hung in the school, renaming one of the hallways ‘Kamber Way’. The Chicago, Ill. native has called South Florida home since the late 1980s and DKJA has become her second home as she has touched numerous lives along the way.

“Sharon is one of the best people who I have had the privilege to work with over the last 14 years,” said High School Art Dept. Chair Anita Schwartz. “Her hard work, attention to detail, and dedication to our school have inspired me.”

Kamber has been instrumental in implementing a number of events and programs during recent school history, most notably Grandparents Day, which became her signature event and celebrated its 25th anniversary this past winter.
