Passion Beyond the Classroom

Noah Rubin is a freshman at the Claire and Emanuel G. Rosenblatt High School at DKJA. Noah is a part of the first-ever engineering affiliation group with Florida Atlantic University. This is the first year of this exciting program, where students that are interested in engineering, receive the unique opportunity to work on a project with a professor from FAU. Noah Rubin has started a community service project to spread his passion for engineering and computer programming beyond the classroom through a project called canCode.

canCode’s Mission is to spark an interest for computer programming in young minds across Palm Beach County. canCode uses Scratch, a free online programming environment developed by MIT, to teach students the basics of coding. Teenagers with a passion for computer programming inspire and teach elementary school students computer programming. This model benefits both the teachers and the students. Noah is asking for $15,000 from the Palm Beach Philanthropy Tank to expand his program and impact more kids, particularly those in the underprivileged communities. The tank will be held at the Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach and will take place from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, March 11.

We are very proud of Noah and the engineering program at Rosenblatt High School, where our students get a head start on the best and most exciting careers.
