2/11/2022 Head of School Message

Dear DKJA Community, 

 

Thank you to those who joined us for Grandparents and Special Friends week. For the second year in a row, we were pleased to provide an experience that allowed grandparents and special friends from around the world the opportunity to virtually “step into” their grandchildren’s classrooms. While we miss having our guests and students under one roof, I am so proud of our entire team for creating a week-long celebration that evoked a spirit of togetherness. I am hopeful that next year we will be able to celebrate in person. 

 

This week, I had the extraordinary opportunity to attend a head of school retreat hosted by Prizmah Center for Jewish Day Schools. This was their first in-person conference since the beginning of the pandemic. It was truly an incredible feeling to be back together with heads of schools from around the country and Canada, and I gained valuable insight and knowledge. I was also honored to be asked to present on the importance of creating a culture of philanthropy. The presentation was well-received, and I look forward to attending future conferences. 

 

At DKJA, we are always striving to provide the best possible experience for our families. In this spirit, we are proud to be rolling out our new Continuous Enrollment Program, which will take effect when contracts are signed for the 2022-2023 school year. Next week, families will receive program details and instructions on how to access and sign contracts. Many grade levels are filling up quickly, so we encourage current families to complete the re-enrollment contracts as soon as they become available. Families who are looking to enroll their child(ren) for the first time should reach out to our admissions office as soon as possible. 

 

The health and safety of our entire community remains our top priority as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic together. After a year and a half of a mandatory mask mandate, parents had the opportunity to sign an opt-out waiver that went into effect on Monday. In addition, faculty, staff, and administrators were provided with the same opportunity to sign an opt-out waiver for our mask mandate. All safety precautions remain in effect on our campus, and we encourage those who wish to continue to wear their masks to do so. As always, we will continue to monitor the virus and be in touch with any updated protocols.
