Dear DKJA Community,

It is my great pleasure to wish our entire community a Happy Hanukkah filled with love and light. As we light our hanukkiah, we are lighting up not only our homes but our community and the world. It has been such a joy to watch our school celebrate Hanukkah this week. We started with a disco-themed dress-down day, where we were inspired to “Glow Crazy and Light Up DKJA'' in honor of the holiday. Our students had a lot of fun, and I loved seeing all of the creative outfits!  The festivities continued throughout the week with division and classroom celebrations. A special thank you to our PTO for sending Chanukah treats for our faculty and students.

  • Our Lower School students created edible hanukkiot, learned the story of the holiday, participated in arts and crafts projects, and enjoyed delicious holiday treats, including latkes and sufganiyot. Our Lower School students also participated in a Chanukah Extravaganza organized and implemented by their Hebrew and Judaic Studies teachers. Students sang and danced to Chanukah music, learned how to make Levivot, and created beautiful works of art with all of their teachers.
  • Middle School students engaged in the lighting of a hanukkiah and participating in a special assembly, as well as creating edible dreidels and playing dreidel in Judaic studies classes. Students were also invited to wear Hanukkah clothing or colors for a dress-down day, and they ended the week with a holiday-themed field day filled with games and activities.
  • Our High School students and faculty were encouraged to wear an ugly sweater every day this week. They also participated in the lighting of multiple hanukkiah, an assembly, and delicious holiday treats. Students also enjoyed decorating the high school for Hanukkah, making dreidels and masks, and playing games. The week ended with a special field day and more delicious Hanukkah treats.

Wishing our community a wonderful weekend and a very Happy Hanukkah.

Shabbat Shalom,
