9/04/2020 Head of School Message

Dear DKJA Community,

AMAZING is the word that comes to mind as the second week of online learning comes to an end! Please make sure to read the wonderful highlights our principals are sharing with you by email and on Eagles Net during the week. We are also excited to welcome back many of our families to in-person learning beginning next week. Our faculty, staff, and administration have been hard at work to ensure that new protocols and procedures are in place to provide a healthy and safe learning environment for everyone. Please click here for a video tour showcasing what DKJA will look like this school year.

Thank you to all who have completed the required school forms, including the form indicating your choice for either continuing with remote learning or returning to in-person instruction. For those families who did not complete this form, your child(ren) will continue learning remotely through our Zoom platform. Please be sure to check your principal’s daily email for Zoom links and other important information. For those planning on returning to in-person instruction, please remember that we have implemented a phased-in grade-level schedule as shown below. We recognize that each family’s decision is one that requires much consideration and depends on a variety of circumstances. Whatever your family chooses at this time, you can be assured that DKJA will continue to provide an outstanding and meaningful education to all of our students.
By now, you should have also received information from your child’s principal with updated policies and protocols for the school year. We will be introducing a wellness application to all families in the next week. Your principals will be sending instructions on completing a daily questionnaire for self-screening purposes.

While the physical well-being of our students is always a priority, we are also excited to share with you our multifaceted approach to ensuring that social-emotional learning is an integral part of our daily learning at DKJA. Next week you will be receiving a comprehensive newsletter from our Guidance Department in which they will share with you the programs and initiatives being offered to all students in grades K-12 this year. They began the new school year with a variety of activities and icebreakers to welcome back new and returning students and have already begun introducing students to valuable mindfulness skills. Thank you to this wonderful team for taking such good care of our students!

As we enter the Labor Day holiday weekend, please continue to follow the guidelines outlined in our Communal Responsibility Commitment as we all work together to Stop the Spread! Stay safe, maintain social distancing guidelines, and wear a mask as you enjoy the weekend with your loved ones.

Shabbat Shalom,
