DKJA Class of 2020 Graduation

On Tuesday evening, June 9th, the Class of 2020 of the Claire and Emanuel G. Rosenblatt High School at Donna Klein Jewish Academy, graduated in historic and memorable fashion. Parked in their cars with family members, on the campus where many had spent the past 13 years of their lives, Seniors were celebrated during a drive-in ceremony and graduation movie. Although socially distanced, they were able to experience this milestone with their friends, while feeling the love of family members, the faculty and the administration who were in attendance.

The evening began with a joyous caravan onto campus, as students were surprised by their faculty on the side of the road, holding signs of “Mazal tov” and cheering them on as they passed by. This continued to a grand entrance into the Cypress Preserve parking area, where they were greeted by administration and each family was given a “goodie bucket” filled with food to enjoy the show, this year’s yearbook, and awards and honors that students had earned during their time in our school.

Once our families settled into their parking spots, and after some pre-graduation entertainment, it was time for graduation to begin. Projected on three screens, our graduates experienced a full graduation ceremony...as a movie! Along with speeches by our school leadership and every single student as well, students and their families also received words of blessing and inspiration from their parents, high school faculty, the kindergarten class at DKJA and from the CEO of the Jewish National Fund, Russell Robinson. Highlights of the movie also included multiple montages of the Seniors through the years, bringing smiles and tears of joy to all in attendance. But before it was over, and before it was time to say goodbye, each Senior was celebrated as music played and they were called up to receive their high school diploma in front of family, friends and teachers.

As our most recent graduates now will begin their journeys outside of our school, we send them off with immense pride and hope for the future. They will be attending wonderful universities in North America and Israel, and two will be joining the IDF in just a few months. These students have made a tremendous impact on our community and we will miss them.

To the graduates of the Class of 2020, we wish you and your families our very best, and continued blessings for health, happiness and meaning.

Donna Klein Jewish Academy will always be your home and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
