Holocaust Remembrance Day at DKJA

On Holocaust Remembrance Day, Yom Ha Shoah, it is our responsibility to remember and honor all 11 million victims and pay special tribute to the 6 million Jewish souls that perished. Every year at DKJA, our students lead a program with the guidance of our Judaic Studies department to educate our community on the Shoah and teach the importance of Never Again. In addition to our memorial program, teachers and students recited the names of the 6 million victims throughout the entirety of the day, meaning there is not a moment of Yom Hashoah that our campus does not hear the names of those souls that were taken. As the Jewish leaders of tomorrow, it is our responsibility to remember. Elie Wiesel once stated“not all victims were Jews, but all Jews were victims.” L'Dor V Dor, from Generation to Generation, is a major theme of our ceremony. We are now the torchbearers, the storytellers, the Kaddish reciters and we will keep the stories of our survivors alive.
