1/08/2021 Head of School Message

Dear DKJA Community,

The new year has brought with it many exciting changes and events to DKJA. This week, we welcomed Ashleigh Gans as our new Communications and Social Media Manager. Ashleigh comes to DKJA with tremendous enthusiasm and experience, and she will ensure that our communication and social media posts continue to inform our families and highlight the many benefits of a DKJA education. Please remember to check your email daily for updates and valuable information from our school community.
We also saw several other smiling new faces on campus this week as we were joined on Monday by eight new DKJA students relocating from New York. Later this week, five additional students joined us from Chicago and California. We welcome all our new DKJA Eagles to our community! In addition, our admissions office was busy over the break providing information and virtual tours to many interested families, and this week’s virtual open house brought us prospective students from around the country and as far away as Paris! We are honored that so many families are looking to provide their children with an extraordinary DKJA education filled with power and purpose.

Reenrollment contracts for the 2021-2022 school year will be sent to DKJA families by the end of the month. For our returning families, it is important to complete your contracts as soon as possible as we anticipate that some of our grades will quickly reach capacity. If you have friends or family interested in attending DKJA next year, please ask them to contact our admissions office (admissions@dkja.net).

This week we also welcomed a new lunch program on our campus, and we are receiving rave reviews from our students and faculty! With many healthy and child-friendly options, this new lunch program can conveniently be ordered directly online, and we encourage all families to try it. Please note that lunches must be ordered in advance. You can reach out to your child’s principal or Donna Albaum (albaumd@dkja.net) for further information.

On Wednesday, under the guidance of our COVID-19 Advisory Committee, we began the process of initiating a safe return to our athletics program. Participating student athletes are required to attend school through our remote learning program and adhere to strict COVID-19 protocols. We are pleased to announce that to further our commitment to ensuring the health of our community, we have partnered with the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Network to offer livestreaming of all our home games. Please click here for more information on livestreaming the DKJA Eagles in action.
