The Makerspace, also known as an innovation lab, is a stimulating learning environment where students get to work with various tools and technologies to develop their sense of creativity and imagination. The goal of the Makerspace is to encourage innovation and design while learning the basics of how things function. This cutting edge program is part of the dynamic learning environment Donna Klein Jewish Academy provides for its students.

What is a Makerspace?

Our Makerspace was created for student-centered learning, where teachers assume the role of facilitator.  It is a place where children accept failure as a step closer to success, not an opportunity to give up. Some examples of what our students work on in the Makerspace:
  • Problem-solving and design thinking
  • Prototyping
  • Electronics
  • Robotics
  • 3 D Design
  • Coding
Students have a dedicated time and space where they are assisted in the process of becoming designers, artists and engineers. Students discover their own creative, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills while using their imagination.
