DKJA Develops The Jewish Leaders of Tomorrow

This past week, students from K-12 took part in DKJA’s annual Leadership Day as part of Franklin Covey's Leader in Me initiative. Leadership Day offers an opportunity for teachers and administrators from other Leader in Me schools to participate and learn about how the Leader in Me is integrated at Donna Klein Jewish Academy. During their visit, guests had an opportunity to go to classrooms, see individual student presentations and hear from student representatives in various leadership clubs discuss their roles in our school as leaders. K-8 students also shared their leadership notebooks and discussed the highlights of their individual grades.

During lunch visitors had an opportunity to meet with Head of School Helena Levine, Lower School Principal Jill Shoshany and our Leader in Me team led by Sydney Siegel, Pam Howard, and Amy Kamber. DKJA leadership talked with their educational counterparts about our journey as a school through this program during the past seven years. Our students did a great job showcasing the many wonderful things our school has to offer, as our guests were very impressed with what they saw and eager to take back some great ideas to share with their respective schools.

“I enjoyed being with like-minded people who value character development as the forefront of everything we do, and that is the feeling I left with,” said Beth Brett, who is a Kindergarten teacher at Miami Country Day School. “Leadership Day was a blessing to my life professionally, but even more so, personally. Thank you for facilitating it with a gorgeous smile, willing heart and open-mind as the relationship you have with the students at DKJA is spectacular!”

We are very proud of our students for their leadership and confidence that they continue to possess and we look forward to helping them achieve their goals and reach even higher as they become the Jewish leaders of tomorrow.
