12/17/2021 Head of School Message

Dear DKJA Community,

It is hard to believe that the fall semester has come to an end, and winter break is here. I am blown away by the incredible work our students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the board has done these last few months, and I look forward to a wonderful spring semester ahead! As you can imagine, we are already starting to plan for next year and are pleased to share an overview of our 2022-2023 calendar so you and your family can plan ahead.

At the start of this school year, we excitedly embraced our students, faculty and staff back to campus. We are thrilled to have welcomed over 100 new families to our school and will continue to do so into our second semester. Our students are thriving academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. We dominated on the field for flag football, soccer, volleyball, golf, and basketball. Our K-12 arts program is thriving, including our incredible offerings in fine arts, ceramics, theatre, dance, and music. We were excited to add new signature programs this year, such as our new leadership academy and our business and entrepreneurship signature program in our High School. We have also been able to begin a gradual return to in-person, school-wide events, including our PTO Family Field Day, community service beach clean-ups, Senior Sunrise Minyan, 1st-grade literacy parade, and a Thanksgiving PTO family baking event. It’s been a joy to have our DKJA community back together for these events! We have so much to be proud of as we close out an excellent semester.

As a reminder, our school will be closed for winter break for the next two weeks. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to campus on Monday, January 3, 2022.

As we all get ready for a relaxing winter break, please make sure to hold the following dates for the start of the second semester:

February 7 - February 11: Our grandparents and special friends are invited to join us for a special Grandparents and Special Friends week. Enjoy a kick-off event, grade-level visits, and an all-school Kabbalat Shabbat. If you know of a grandparent or special friend who is not on our mailing list, please email Rhonnie Leder with their information (rhonnieleder@gmail.com).

Wishing you a wonderful winter break and Shabbat Shalom!
