Dear DKJA Community,

It has been another week full of learning, growth, and togetherness at Donna Klein Jewish Academy. Members of the Claire and Emanuel G. Rosenblatt High School Anti-Defamation League (ADL) team spoke to our 7th and 8th graders about the importance of standing up to bullying of any kind not only on our campus but also in our community. Our 5th and 6th-grade students will have their own assembly after winter break. The team, composed of students, also discussed the organization and our involvement as a school as ADL will be coming to the middle school next semester. Donna Klein Jewish Academy is proud to be a designated No Place for Hate® school through the Anti-Defamation League, and this school year marks our 10-year anniversary in partnership with this organization.

I am so happy to announce that the DKJA annual spring musical will be back this March! For the first time since the start of the pandemic, our arts department held auditions for Little Shop of Horrors, this year’s spring musical. With the safety of our entire community in mind, this year’s show will be a reader's theater staged production, with a limited cast and a smaller audience. Under the leadership of our incomparable theater director Zoraida Adams, I have no doubt that this production will be a big success, showcasing the incredible talent of our students and theater department.

Amelia Wigder, a DKJA ninth-grade English Honors student, was selected as a winner of the Membean Vocabulary Program pseudoword competition for her word “Fortess,” meaning “strong, capable woman”. The competition tasked students with creating a new word using classical roots (the word origin). Congratulations to Amelia and the high school English department entire, especially Dr. Elizabeth Restivo. Mazel Tov!

We’re so proud of our student-athletes and athletic staff, who have given their all on the fields and the courts this year. We encourage our DKJA Community to become a member of the 2021-2022 Eagles Athletics Program through our sponsorship opportunities. Please click here to learn how to join in on the fun.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

Shabbat Shalom,
Helena Levine
