10/1/2021 Head of School Message

Dear DKJA Community,

It has been a bittersweet week for the DKJA community as we celebrated Shemini Atzeret, Simchat Torah, and the end of Sukkot, while also honoring the life of Daniel Fenster, a 10th-grade DKJA student who very sadly passed away last week. Daniel left an immeasurable impact on DKJA students and parents. To commemorate his life, Our Middle School and High School students dressed in Miami Heat clothing, as Daniel was an avid Miami Heat fan. The 6th-grade parents collected monetary donations in Daniel’s memory to present a gift to the Seiff Academy at DKJA, a program in which Daniel was a part and his sister Raina continues to be a part. Moreover, a plaque will be placed outside of the Seiff classrooms as a permanent fixture in Daniel’s honor. Sadly, Daniel’s passing occurred in September, the month dedicated to Childhood Cancer Awareness. The Talon, DKJA’s school newspaper, dedicated the first edition of the paper to Daniel and in his memory. Our hearts go out to Daniel’s family, friends, and all those who were lucky to know this special young man. Please click here to read the Talon's October issue.

Mezuzot Dedication Ceremony
The entire DKJA community is invited to join us virtually next Friday, October 8, at 1 p.m. for the momentous occasion of re-affixing Mezuzot in every classroom, office, and shared space. This event will include a live dedication ceremony, and video and photos of Mezuzot being installed throughout our campus. The Zoom link will be provided next week.

Back to Our Regular Schedule
September was filled with numerous days off to commemorate and celebrate the many high holidays that fell throughout the month. I look forward to the return of our regular schedule on Monday.

Wishing our DKJA family a wonderful weekend.

Shabbat Shalom,
Helena Levine
