DKJA Alumni Signs Free Agent Contract with The Miami Dolphins

DKJA is excited this week to celebrate one of its Alumni, Greg Joseph as he signs a free agent contract with the NFL’s Miami Dolphins.

Joseph, attended DKJA in first through the ninth grade. During his time at DKJA (2000-09), Greg was an active member on almost every sport team, while possessing amazing skills and sportsmanship both on and off the field.

It was no surprise to our community when he continued to reach for the stars as a kicker for Florida Atlantic University’s football team. He then became DKJA’s first alum to sign a professional sports contract and one of the first players in FAU history to sign a rookie free agent contract with the Dolphins.

“Playing sports at DKJA taught me the value of team,” Joseph said about his experience as a student-athlete at the K-12 Jewish Day School. "It is there where I learned an athlete will not be successful just counting on him or herself because it is always bigger than ourselves.”

“In my 16 years as a coach and athletic director, I have not seen an athlete with more drive for success and the will to win,” said DKJA Athletic Director David Trell. “Great athletes work hard and refuse to lose and I believe this is what has driven Greg to his success in college and now at the professional level.”

Joseph finished his undergraduate education in Exercise Science and Health Promotion during the Spring of 2017 and started grad school, working toward his Master’s in Health Administration before his final year of eligibility with the Owl football team.

“Everyone needs a team to rely on at all times, good and bad, and I’m lucky I was able to learn this under different coaches at DKJA,” Joseph explained. “This is a lesson I took with me from middle school all the way throughout high school and college.

According to the Jewish Virtual Library there are currently 10 Jewish players in the NFL. Joseph will be 11 if he makes the team when the regular season starts in September. He left FAU as its all-time field goal leader and tied the program's record for most extra points. He will report to Miami’s spring rookie camp on May 10.

We are filled with so much pride as a school and wish our very own, Greg Joseph, all the success in the world as he begins this exciting journey to take on the NFL!

Your DKJA family is cheering for you.
